Acupuncture & Dry Needling
About Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Active Spine & Health is excited to offer Acupuncture. Acupuncture, like chiropractic, is a form of holistic medicine which promotes natural healing. It is safe, painless and effective.

Primary Philosophy
Acupuncture is often performed by inserting thin sterilized needles into the skin. It’s primary philosophy is that a body can be healed when qi, or healing energy is released by targeting and activating specific points along the meridian (energy channels). Acupuncture releases blocked energy, where when the flow of energy is blocked, illness occurs

Stimulates Blood Flow
When the needles are inserted into the skin they also help stimulate or increase blood flow which helps break up scar tissue and decrease inflammation which ultimately decreases pain. These changes can have a positive impact on your muscles, bones, nerves, tissues, cells, blood, brain and well-being. Acupuncture impacts multiple systems in the human body, such as the circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic, endocrine, and nervous system. Many patients who do not respond well to traditional health care options find relief with acupuncture especially when combined with chiropractic care. Results from a number of studies suggest that acupuncture may help ease types of pain that are often chronic.

Dry Needling
Dry needling involves the insertion of a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Trigger points are irritable points in muscles that are associated with very sensitive and palpable nodules, commonly referred to as “knots." These areas are painful and can also “radiate” in different pain patterns. Dry needling is an effective treatment for chronic pain (of musculoskeletal origin) with very few side effects. The result of dry needling is pain relief and restoration of healthy physiology.
